OpenAI added a virtual try-on feature to ChatGPT's shopping results on October 1, 2026.

How It Works

A Try On button appears on clothing and accessory listings in ChatGPT's shopping results. Users take or upload a selfie or full-body photo, and ChatGPT generates an image of them wearing the item. They can also upload a screenshot of a garment from any store and ask ChatGPT to try it on.

Powered by Images 2.5

The feature runs on ChatGPT Images 2.5, OpenAI's newest image model, and saves the uploaded photo for future use. A new Favorites option lets users save products to a Library.

Check the Privacy Setting

By default, OpenAI can train on uploads from personal accounts — worth checking before uploading body photos.

What Fashion Retailers Should Note

Shoppers can now try on a product without visiting the retailer's site. Clear, high-quality product images and accurate size information become even more important when an AI is rendering your garment on a customer.
