Google started testing a Gemini feature called Call for Me on September 24, 2026, which lets the AI phone a business and handle the conversation on a user's behalf.

What Gemini Can Do on the Call

The AI introduces itself, navigates automated phone menus, waits on hold and then talks to whoever answers. Google's examples include asking a store whether a product is in stock, making a restaurant reservation, moving an appointment and placing items on hold.

Your Number, Your Control

Calls are dialed from the user's own phone and personal number. Users can follow the call as it happens and take over at any time.

A Small Preview First

The early preview is limited to Pixel users in the US who are enrolled in the Phone by Google public beta and have a Gemini Advanced subscription. Google said it is starting small because real-world conversations are nuanced.

Businesses Will Be on the Other End

Front desks and call centers should expect a growing share of callers to be AI agents asking routine questions. Publishing accurate hours, stock and booking information online — and offering online booking — answers many of those calls before they are made.
