Starting September 30, 2026, all eligible Microsoft partners can earn the new Frontier Partner specialization, which validates the ability to deliver agentic AI.
What It Recognizes
The specialization covers partners who can design, build, deploy, govern and secure AI agents across Microsoft's Frontier Transformation stack: Microsoft 365 Copilot, Azure AI Foundry, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra and Microsoft Purview.
A High Bar
Partners must hold four prerequisite specializations — Microsoft 365 Copilot, AI Apps or AI Platform on Azure, Data Security, and Identity and Access Management. Five people must complete the Frontier Transformation Engineer badge and three must earn the Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600) certification.
Partner Benefits
Qualified partners get a customer-facing badge, eligibility for Frontier-aligned co-sell opportunities, Microsoft Agent pre-purchase plan credits and Microsoft 365 E7 licensing, go-to-market resources and concierge support through the audit.
Security Is Part of the Definition
Notably, Microsoft's bar for an agent partner includes identity, data security and governance — not just building agents. That is a useful checklist when evaluating any AI implementation partner, Microsoft-certified or not.
